A British sentry on a foot bridge in the ruins of Arras, March 1917
Lantern slide, World War One, Western Front (1914-1918), 1917.
Arras, located on the River Scarpe, was heavily damaged during the war and had to be rebuilt after 1918. It remained in Allied hands throughout the conflict.
