Certificate attesting the mention of Sergeant Major James Frederick Plunkett, 2nd Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment, in a despatch of 8 October 1914 by Field Marshal Sir John French for gallant and distinguished service in the field

Issued by the War Office, 1 March 1919, signed by Winston Churchill, Secretary of State for War.

This was one of five mentions in despatches received by Lieutenant Colonel James Frederick Plunkett during the First World War. In addition, Plunkett was also awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, the Military Cross and the Distinguished Service Order with two bars, making him one of the most highly decorated servicemen of the First World War.
