Medal commemorating the service of citizens of Lincoln in World War One, 1914-1919

Many towns and organisations issued medals in 1918-1919 to celebrate the end of the war and to show gratitude to those who had served in the armed forces.

Issued by the City of Lincoln, this medal was struck in celebration of peace. The medal incorporates all of the armed services using images of a bi-plane, airship and cruiser behind a kneeling soldier. Britannia, representing Peace, is shown placing a wreath on the soldier's head. Similar medals were produced in over 60 towns in the United Kingdom.
