Zulu knobkerrie, 1879 (c)

This weapon was used to crush heads. Despite being armed with such basic weapons, and a few outdated firearms, the Zulus defeated a modern British army at Isandlwana.

This knobkerrie was a trophy brought back to Britain by two brothers serving in the 2nd Battalion, 3rd (The East Kent) Regiment of Foot (The Buffs) following that units return home from the Zulu War (1879).
