Mussoorie is a hill station in the Dehradun District of Uttarakhand. The Mussoorie Volunteer Rifle Corps was formed in 1871. It amalgamated with the Thomason College Volunteer Rifle Corps and the Mussoorie Volunteer Rifle Reserve Corps in 1901. In 1917 the unit was renamed the 9th Mussoorie Battalion, becoming the Mussoorie Battalion in 1920.
