Formation badge of Northern Command, 1944 (c)

The emblem represents 'Adam's Apple' and is said to have been selected in honour of Lieutenant-General Sir Ronald Adam who led Northern Command from June 1940 to June 1941. Northern Command had its Headquarters at York.
