Mule trunk, 1914-1918
A mule could carry two trunks of this type, one on either side of its back to balance the load evenly. This example is made from hessian and canvas over wickerwork. It was used to carry the clothing and kit of Captain Godfrey Dawson of the Royal Irish Regiment during the First World War.
