Albert Medal, 2nd Class, awarded to Lieutenant Edward Arthur Simmons, 1918
The Albert Medal for Saving Life on Land was awarded to Lieutenant Simmons, 14th (Service) Battalion (attached to the 5th Reserve Battalion), The Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment), following his bravery on 1 November 1918 at Wouldham in Kent when he saved several colleagues from injury or death during a grenade training exercise. Simmons was severely injured during the incident.
