Letter to Private Alfred Price's mother informing her that her son had been wounded on 14 July 1916

The letter was sent by Price's platoon commanding officer. Alfred was wounded at the Battle of Trones Wood on 13 July 1916 during the opening phase of the Somme offensive. He was serving with 7th (Service) Battalion, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). Unfortunately he died of his injuries the following day. Private Price has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
