'For Your Children. Buy War Savings Certificates and they will live to thank you', 1917

This poster encourages people to buy War Savings Certificates. These were interest-bearing debt securities issued by the government for the purpose of financing the war. They also fostered patriotism by allowing people not working in the military or arms industry to directly support the national war effort.
