Shoulder belt plate, Scots Fusilier Guards, 1850 (c)
Gilded copper, rectangular, frosted plate with burnished edges with the Star of the Order of the Thistle mounted on the centre. Two hooks and two studs upon the reverse. Impressed into the reverse is the manufacturer's trademark of a fleur-de-lys.
The 3rd Foot Guards was renamed the Scots Fusilier Guards in 1831. The 1st Battalion fought in the Crimean War (1854-1856) as part of the Guards Brigade, gaining battle honours for the Battle of the Alma, the Battle of Inkerman and the Siege of Sevastopol.
