Waistbelt clasp, other ranks, Scots Fusilier Guards, 1856-1877

Brass belt fitting with the Star of the Order of the Thistle in relief within a frosted circlet with burnished edges, bearing the title, 'Scots Fusiliers Guards'. Impressed into the neck of the male portion, and into the lower part of the female portion, the number '6' accompanied by two dots.

The 3rd Foot Guards was renamed the Scots Fusilier Guards in 1831. The 1st Battalion fought in the Crimean War (1854-1856) as part of the Guards Brigade, gaining battle honours for the Battle of the Alma, the Battle of Inkerman and the Siege of Sevastopol. In 1877 the unit was renamed the Scots Guards.
