Pattern 1937 utility pouches, 1940 (c)

These pouches were part of a khaki webbing set. They were usually used to hold ammunition or a water bottle. Webbing distributed weight around the body, allowed freer movement and meant more ammunition could be carried. The 1937 webbing was the standard British load-carrying equipment of World War Two (1939-1945).
