The regiment was stationed at the Admiralty controlled port of Wei Hai Wei, and took part in the Relief of Tientsin and of Peking in the 3rd China War (Boxer Rebellion) during 1900-1901. The single battalion regiment consisted of British officers and senior NCOs and Chinese soldiers.
