Hodson's Horse (4th Duke of Cambridge's Own Lancers) Shikar Club coursing meet near Loralai, Baluchistan, 1938

Shikar is an Urdu/Hindi word meaning hunt. Hunting was popular in both Indian and British circles and was a common feature of life in all Indian Army units. Coursing is the pursuit of game by dogs.
