A central image of the 88th Regiment of Foot (Connaught Rangers) on parade. Smaller vignettes of the 8th (The King's) Regiment of Foot marching with a band, the 58th (Rutlandshire) Regiment of Foot in battle, and the 1st West India Regiment on parade. Six smaller studies of soldiers from different regiments: 36th (Herefordshire) Regiment of Foot, 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot, 44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot, 97th (Earl of Ulster's) Regiment of Foot, 46th (South Devonshire) Regiment of Foot and the 22nd (The Cheshire) Regiment of Foot.
