'The Calvary North of Norrey-en-Buissons in the place where Brigadier John Currie was mortally wounded', Normandy, 1944

Brigadier John Currie MC, a veteran of World War One, commanded 4th Armoured Brigade in North Africa, Sicily and mainland Italy, before leading it in Normandy. The Brigade landed in France on 7 June 1944. On 26 June 1944 Currie was killed after German shellfire hit his position near Brettville. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records his burial at Bayeux War Cemetery.
