Aquatint by J C Stadler after Charles Hamilton Smith, 1815.

The King's German Legion, formed in 1803 from veterans of the Hanoverian Army, were some of the finest units in the Duke of Wellington's Army during the Waterloo campaign. They had earlier distinguished themselves in the Peninsular War (1808-1814).

From Charles Hamilton Smith's 'Costumes of the Army of the British Empire, according to the last regulations 1812', published by Colnaghi and Company, 1812-1815.
