Hakim 7.62 mm self-loading VZ52/57 rifle, 1952 (c)

Originally developed in Sweden as the Ljungmann AG42, this weapon was a self-loading rifle with ten shot magazine.

As part of the modernisation programme for their army the Egyptians manufactured this rifle under licence. Originally it was chambered for the 7.92 mm German Mauser round as this was the most common cartridge in Egypt. Some were later modified for the 7.62 mm cartridge, but the rifle rapidly became obsolete.
