About 87,000 Indian soldiers lost their lives during World War Two (1939-1945), many of them in Burma where the Indian Army played a leading role in defeating the Japanese.

From a collection of official photographs collected by Major General (later Lieutenant General) Sir Frank Walter Messervy.
