A striking portrait of a British Army padre attached to the County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) during the Italian campaign. Captain, the Reverend Hubert (Hugh) Crane was affectionally nicknamed, 'Lifting Tackle'. He served as Regimental Chaplain with the Sharpshooters in North Africa, Italy and North West Europe. He wears battle dress and his cap bears the badge of the Royal Army Chaplains' Department.
