Montgomery was commander of the 21st Army Group which consisted of all the Allied ground forces that would take part in Operation Overlord, the invasion of Normandy. He is pictured here giving a speech to the men of 3rd County of London Yeomanry on the Manor Sports Ground during their stay at Worthing prior to embarking for the liberation of Europe.
