Montgomery was commander of the 21st Army Group which consisted of all the Allied ground forces that would take part in Operation Overlord, the invasion of Normandy. He is pictured inspecting men of 3rd County of London Yeomanry during their stay at Worthing prior to embarking for the liberation of Europe.
