'Graves of the 2nd Seaforth Highlanders in the small wood (their objective) to the left of the Etteville [sic] Ridge', July 1944

According to the war diary of the 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), the unit's Sherman tanks, with infantry support from the Seaforth Highlanders, were heavily engaged with German infantry and tanks near Eteville on 10 and 11 July 1944.To the right of the picture, next to the graves, there is a cordoned off area with a pile of what appear to be German mines.
