Three white cross markers for the 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) casualties and a more rudimentary cross for the infantryman from the King's Royal Rifle Corps who also died on 18 August 1944. A helmet and berets are placed on the graves and there are also two crucifixes planted next to the crosses.
The 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) War Diary details the fighting around Rouffigny in the Falaise region in August 1944. On the 18 August it records the loss of three tanks to German anti-tank fire during an advance under the cover of a smokescreen. The casualties for the day are unnamed but listed as two officers and eight other ranks killed with seven men wounded and four missing.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records the deaths and burials at Banneville-la-Campagne War Cemetery of Trooper Robert Hillyer (6148213), Sergeant Thomas Julian Bingle (7906122), Lieutenant Noel Ramsay Cleaver (256516) and Rifleman Howard R Bishop (14255115).
