'German prisoners captured by the regiment and 60th KRRC being marched back by FFI', 1944

Photograph by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), World War Two, North West Europe (1944-1945), 1944.

Members of the King's Royal Rifle Corps and French Forces of the Interior (FFI) escort prisoners. After the D-Day landings the Allies placed about 200,000 resistance fighters under the command of General Marie Pierre Koenig, who attempted to unify resistance efforts against the Germans. Most FFI members wore civilian clothing and wore an armband with the letters 'FFI'.

From an album containing 211 photographs compiled by Major W H J Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), 1944-1945.
