HQF tank park, Asten, January 1945

Tank crew from 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry in the snow, next to a command vehicle. They are named as (left to right) Tom Welbourn, Nobby Clark, Eddie Preston and Jimmie Thomas. 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry arrived in the Dutch town of Asten on 19 December 1944 for rest and refitting and remained there until late January 1945. This Sherman tank, with its turret reversed, has been fitted with additional armour on its front to protect against hollow charge anti-tank weapons. The sheet metal fixed to the tank has an aperture with a wire grill fixed over it.
