Grave of Trooper Douglas Jones, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), Uedem, Germany, 1945

A white wooden grave marks the grave of Trooper Douglas Jones, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), killed in action, 27 February 1945. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records the final resting place of Trooper Jones, aged just 22, at the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery in Germany.

The war diary of the 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) records the action on the 27 February 1945 where Jones and eight other men were killed and eleven more wounded. Three tanks from 'C' Squadron, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), operating near 'Udem', were recorded as knocked out by a German 'Jagdpanther' tank destroyer and several others hit by enemy artillery.
