In the last weeks of the World War Two (1939-1945) 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) were in action in Lower Saxony. The Sharpshooters war diary entry for 16 April 1945 records that 'B' Squadron, supporting 1st Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment, reached high ground near Kirchlinteln with little opposition but lost a tank to 'bazooka fire'. One officer and two other ranks were killed and two other ranks were wounded.
