In the last weeks of World War Two (1939-1945) 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) were in action in Lower Saxony. The Sharpshooters war diary entry for 26 April 1945 records that the aerodrome at Botersen was captured by 'C' Squadron and infantry from the 4th Battalion, Welch Regiment, with no opposition. Ten German Air Force personnel were captured.
