Glass negative, W Gregory and Company, 51 Strand, London, 1895 (c).

The Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) is the oldest regiment in the British Army and traces its origins back to 1537. During the 19th Century they raised a field battery of artillery.

This officer wears a busby and tunic based on Hussar dress of the period. His horse has a curb chain round his neck, which could be used for tethering when in the field.
