'Close up of a dejected looking group of German prisoners captured on the outskirts of Brest', 1944

Official photograph, World War Two, 1944.

The photograph is captioned, 'The Storming of Brest', and records that these prisoners were all paratroopers. Allied forces attempted to storm the strategically important French port of Brest in August 1944.
