The 64th Anti-Tank (Queen's Own Royal Glasgow Yeomanry) Regiment, Royal Artillery was mobilised in 1939. As part of 78th Infantry Division, it served in North Africa and Sicily. During the Italian campaign the unit was equipped with the new 17-pounder anti-tank gun to counter the threat from new German heavy tanks such as the Tiger and Panther.
