'Airborne Forces', 1942
Lithograph recruiting poster, after Abram Games (1914-1996), printed by Henry Hildesley Ltd, 1942
Games designed many British wartime propaganda and recruitment posters over the course of his military service with the Royal Engineers, including around a hundred posters for the Army.
Although Britain had a conscripted Army in the Second World War, soldiers had to volunteer for service in specialised units such as the airborne forces. Because they faced enhanced dangers, these men received additional pay.
From a collection of 45 posters from World War Two (1939-1945).
