Akali Temple Amritsar, 1865 (c)

The Sikh scriptures, known as the Guru Granth Sahib, are recited or sung at temples known as gurdwaras. Sermons on the faith and the history of Sikhism are also given there. Indeed, all Sikh temples are places for acquiring spiritual knowledge and wisdom. They are open to every one regardless of age, sex, caste or creed. All are treated equal and offered shelter and food.
