Major John Lampert Aitken MC, aged 30, Lieutenant Geoffrey William Hird, aged 21, and Trooper Thomas Trotter, aged 27, were killed when their scout car hit a mine during a reconnaissance patrol near Asch (As) in Belgium on 20 September 1944.
