Autograph book kept by Lucy Kingsnorth while serving as a nurse at Charlton Court Military Hospital, Kent, 1915

Lucy Kingsnorth was in service in East Sutton House before the war and after working at Charlton Court Hospital moved to a munitions factory where she succumbed to an extreme form of jaundice caused by the explosives she handled. Around 400 female munitions workers died in Britain from exposure to TNT during World War One (1914-1918). The book contains messages from convalescing soldiers who were staying at Charlton Court.
