Trophy awarded to combat medic Sergeant Chantelle Taylor by the Close Support Medical Regiment, 16 Air Assault Brigade, 2008 (c)
The trophy depicts two figures from Greek mythology, the hero Bellerophon mounted on the winged horse Pegasus. This is the emblem of British airborne forces. The trophy is usually reserved for airborne Paratroopers who have received the Parachute Regiment's wings.
In July 2008, during her second tour of Afghanistan (2001-2014), Taylor's convoy was ambushed near Marjah. In the subsequent firefight she became the first female British soldier to kill an enemy combatant.
