Cheque for 60 Rupees, kitting out allowance for Second Lieutenant Joan Griffin, Women's Auxiliary Service (Burma), April 1945

The Women's Auxiliary Corps (Burma) was established in January 1942 and performed similar duties to Britain's Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS). These included driving, clerical and cipher work and general services, such as ferrying supplies for the troops of Burma Command. Consisting mainly of British and Australian women, the corps was disbanded in 1946.
