Sister Amy Sayers, Queen Alexandra's Military Nursing Service, 1939 (c)

Sister Amy Sayers of Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service was travelling on a troopship from Scotland to North Africa when it was torpedoed by a German U-Boat. Sayers and her fellow nurses survived, but many of the soldiers were killed.
