Soldiers serving in Basra watch the 2006 Football World Cup despite being in Iraq

Photograph by Corporal Anthony Boocock Royal Logistic Corps, 20th Armoured Brigade Media Ops, 10 June 2006.

Troops from 200 Signals Squadron celebrate England's first goal in the tournament against Paraguay. The troops were able to watch the match in the Junior Ranks club at Waterloo Lines, Basra Air Station. Some of the Scottish and Welsh soldiers had volunteered to do guard duty so most of the England fans in the camp were able to watch.

One of 47 digital images relating to 20th Armoured Brigade's deployment in Iraq on Operation TELIC 8, 2006.
