In times of peace it was difficult to recruit men on ideological grounds and rare to find those motivated simply by the desire to serve King and country. This recruitment poster appeals to prospective soldiers' love of sport and includes two vignettes pointing out that in '1919-1921 the Regiment was acknowledged to be the finest boxing regiment in the Army of the Rhine' and in '1921 the Regiment won the football championship of all India'.
