'The Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment Royal Canadians. Recruits are wanted for this regiment famous in War and Sport'

Colour chromolithograph recruiting poster. Published by Gale and Polden Limited, Wellington Works, Aldershot, 1920 (c).

In times of peace it was difficult to recruit men on ideological grounds and rare to find those motivated simply by the desire to serve King and country. This recruitment poster therefore appeals to prospective soldiers' love of sport as well.

The Leinster Regiment recruited from five Irish counties, all of which became part of the Irish Free State in 1922. The regiment was therefore disbanded in that year.
