'14th Hussars leaving Maitland Camp to join Buller in the thick of hard fighting', 1900

Stereoscopic photograph, Boer War, 1900.

The 14th (King's) Hussars took part in all the battles leading up to the Relief of Ladysmith (14-27 September 1900). They were part of General Sir Redvers Buller's army that forced Louis Botha's Boers to lift their siege of the town. Maitland Camp was in Cape Town.

From a box of 89 stereoscopic cards entitled, 'South African War through the Stereoscope Pt 2 Vol 1', published by Underwood and Underwood and produced by Works and Sun Sculpture Studios, 1900 (c).
