Officer's cap badge, 5th (Royal Irish) Lancers, 1903 (c)

Gilt metal badge with regimental numeral within a circlet with the unit's motto, on crossed lances.

Raised in 1689, the motto of the 5th Lancers was 'Quis Separabit?', which translates as 'Who Shall Separate Us?' In 1922 the regiment was merged with the 16th Queen's Lancers to form the 16th/5th Lancers.
