Combined washstand and commode, 1854 (c)

Made from mahogany, this piece of campaign furniture is missing its original porcelain commode liner, which would have fitted in the lower drawer. It was used by Field Marshal Lord Raglan, the British commander-in-chief during the Crimean War (1854-1856).
