Horse's tail, 'Blackie', 1910 (c)

This is the tail of 'Blackie', the favourite horse of Major William Stewart. During the Boer War (1899-1902) Major Stewart was attached to the 1st Mounted Infantry from the Welch Regiment. A large collection of letters and photographs show his fondness for the cheeky black horse whom he often had to tell off for stealing biscuits!
