Entrenching tool used by a member of 2nd Battalion, The Scots Guards, during the Falklands War, 1982

The 2nd Battalion sailed for the South Atlantic in the 'QE2' on 12 May 1982 as part of 5th Infantry Brigade. It landed at San Carlos on East Falkland on 2 June. Twelve days later the battalion captured Mount Tumbledown during a night attack. Eight guardsmen lost their lives and another 41 were wounded in this action.
