Sweetheart brooch, The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment), 1943 (c)

This brooch was given by Private Cyril Harry Godwin to his sister Mrs Ethel Brown (née Godwin). The brooch is in the form of a disc of mother of pearl surmounted by the Buff's regimental badge, with a blue enamelled title scroll. Cyril Godwin was killed on 13 January 1944, aged 30, in a vehicle crash during his unit's training for the Normandy landings.
