'Kitchener Needs You' advertising poster, 1970

This image was used as an advertising poster for a clothing boutique called 'I was Lord Kitchener's Valet' in London. The fashionable shop operated from 1966-1977 and specialised in antique military uniform and memorabilia.

The design of the head, shoulders and gesture of Lord Kitchener, pointing out at us, is taken from Alfred Leete's well-known recruitment poster design during the First World War (1914-1918), first published in 1914.
